How to Start a Thread

1.  Use your phone's camera to scan the "Start Here" QR code on your sticker sheet. When the QR scan gives you a popup web address, click it.  Now, you are on TTP's dashboard.

2.  Click “I have stickers.”  Punch in an email where you'd like your "found" notifications to go.

3.  Go to that email, see the TTP login link, and click it.  Now you have verified your email.  You are now recognized in our TTP system under this email.

4.  Click “Start a Thread.”

5.  Click “I have stickers.”

6.  Enter the 8-digit numeric code located on the rectangular sticker.

7.  Identify the book’s title from the Google book database.

8.  Identify the location where you will drop your book.  (Approximating is fine.)

9.  Write a special message.

10. Affix your stickers.  Affix the circle stickers to the front cover and the rectangle sticker to the front page inside your book.

11.  Drop your book in a conspicuous location.

You will receive an email every time your book is found!  At any time, you can check on your book's travel by visiting the "My Threads" tab of our dashboard.  Make sure we don't wind up in your spam folder.

Look at your sticker sheet and notice the "Start Here" QR code.  Then, notice the stickers:  two will go on your book's cover.  The larger one will go on the inside cover of your book.  This sticker, numeric code, and QR code are for your book's finders!

Your Thread's Message

The message you leave is special!  It's sort of like writing to a pen pal or putting a message in a bottle; the message should express your connection with the book and your connection with whomever will find it.

If you don't have time for the muse to strike with poetic brilliance, then we recommend a simple x+y=z formula:

Why this book means a lot to me
+ why I want to share it with you
= what I hope finding this book will do for you and the world.

For example:

I am delighted to start this Thread for Hemingway's book A Moveable Feast at the Ritz, Paris!  This book holds special meaning for me, an American living in the USA.  I first read AMF on an airplane to Paris in 2004.  My husband and I were stopping there for some romantic revelry before our wedding in Greece a week later.  This special book captures Paris' allure through Hemingway's eyes and unique writing style. This is my favorite line (I underlined it in the text): “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.” I hope this book is as inspiring and enchanting for you as it is for me.  When you're done reading it, leave it somewhere special for another reader to find, enjoy, and re-Thread.  Savoure ce livre unique que tu as découvert! Affectueusement, Meredith
